I wanted to prove to myself that lighting does more work than detail. So I drew one street with almost no texture and let the time of day do the rest.
The scene uses one 88-colour palette. Every hour is the same drawing with a different light: a warm key at dusk, a cool fill at night, lamps and windows as their own sources.
It became the most shared thing I've ever made, and three studios got in touch because of it.
